Australian Government

A Public Private Partnerships Unit has been established to assist Australian Government agencies. The unit has several roles: it provides advice to government and to agencies on the use of public private partnerships, it assesses specific proposals, and it will oversee, on behalf of government, the application and development of the Public Private Partnerships policy.

Public Private Partnerships Policy

The Australian Government Policy Principles for the Use of Public Private Partnerships build on the Australian Government's resource management framework. The policy establishes principles and processes for the use of private financing by Australian Government departments and agencies subject to the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997.

Resources

Introductory Guide to Public Private Partnerships

The Introductory Guide to Public Private Partnerships is intended for Australian Government departments and agencies that have not considered public private partnerships in the past.

Business Case Development

The Business Case Development publication guides agencies through the assessment and approval process needed to determine best value for money and on how to prepare a recommendation seeking government support.

Risk Management

The Risk Management publication provides guidance on the risk management process, and how it should be integrated in the overall process of developing a business case for a Public Private Partnership. The guide is therefore used in conjunction with the Business Case Development Guide.

Contract Management

The Contract Management publication guides agencies through the process of dealing with the complex structures involved in a public private partnerships contract.

Public Private Partnerships Services Advisory Panel

The Public Private Partnerships Unit administers the Public Private Partnerships Services Advisory Panel (Panel), which is available to all Australian Government agencies. The Panel provides access to specialist advisers who can assist with the development and implementation of specific proposals.
